Research: "on those immigrants who arrived into Wellington Harbour and were quarantined on Matiu-Somes Island during the 1800’s."

 Timothy and Mary TROY arrived on the ‘Rodney’ on 29th  August 1875. Their youngest child, Timothy, died on 11 September 1875 while quarantined on Matiu Somes Island.

 He is buried on the island along with others who also succumbed to contagious diseases.

 There is a Monument on the island with the names of those buried there and it is well cared for....

Timothy and Mary Troy, emigrated  to NZ on the "Rodney", leaving London 6/6/1875 and arriving in Wellington on 29/8/1875, with two of their children, Timothy and James.

Timothy's brother and Sister, Mary and Michael, leave for NZ on the "Waimea" in 1876, along with Timothy's other 3 children, Johanna, Mary J and Patrick.
